Three faced figure?

In the first part of Sukhavati i think there is the three faced mask, what is it called or from what culture did it come. I remember the symbolicism of the middle way or enlightenment.

What lies behind the thing we are discussing here, i think has to do with what we are affraid of beeing identified with, or at least trying not to identify ourselves with. The paradox can be viewed like this, the one who think he knows do not know. But what about the one who knows he does not know. ...

Every now and then you encounter a statement which involves the ego and how it is the main obstacle, to reach enlightenment in buddhism for example.
