All, I need to make a few comments about the discussion over the past week. First, a good song is not an escape from reality, it is a caress. Next, reality for me is the amazing, infinite, magnificient, emmanent and transendent whole thing and the closer I get to it the better. 70% of me is made of ...

Carmelabear, I see your point, but I also sympathize with Neoplato. When my wife and I babysit our grandsons, my wife has this loving bond with them that makes her eyes sparkle and she thinks of all the things we should do, whereas I just get depressed. My wife swims in unconditional love and I can'...

The sacred

Thank you Ercan, You have made my mind race from all that interesting input. I have a quesstion and a few comments. First, I watched the beautiful video and enjoyed the message. It, however, made me think of a question. At the end the birds are instructed that when they realize that they are not sep...

Cindy, Thanks for the introduction. I'm new to discussions. I had no idea how they stimulate thought. My goal is to keep the discussions entertaining. CarmelaBear, You are very perceptive. I do have a specific definition of a caregiver. In many of Dr. Campbell's books and lectures that I have taken ...

CarmelaBear, Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but sometimes I see as a caregiver, and a caregiver considers the child the highest priority. We know that perhaps 70 million people have died from diseases when they went into strange environments. This was done by either introducing new diseases or encounter...

CarmelaBear, The thing that amazed me was the quality of the art in the "Cave of Forgotten dreams." We were lucky that it was sealed by a landslide, otherwise it would have probably been defaced. I watched the film about the Shamen of the Amazon. This generated a whole series of thoughts and emotion...

Native, I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you found this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvcUwl_VZWw I didn't realize there were little 10 minute versions with music. I especially enjoyed the comparison of western culures and the concept of a creator God and a seperate creation and eastern cu...

CarmelaBear, Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I too skipped the one about Sacred Theater. My hobby is to devise a mythic image for everybody and because of this, I have a problem with the "I'm special and your not" Theolgies in any form. The one on Shamanism I also skipped, but will revisit. I ve...

Native, I am new to JCF and have been facinated by your discussion. You might enjoy an alternative view to creation stories. It was given by Alan Watts in an audio lecture titled, "Images of man." He does a really nice job of describing the God becoming concept. I think it should still be available....

Carmelabear, This is my first visit to the JCF site and it feels like coming home. I watched almost all of the beautiful videos posted here and thought about how to reply. I decided to treat the post like a Koan and say what comes to mind. Here goes: For the transient, the eternal is sacred For the ...
