C, I was wrong. Senior moment. What I meant was that sarcasm was a low form of humor and what H was using was sarcasm not satire. This is why his communication was being misunderstood. His satire wasn't up to par but his sarcasm wasn't either :wink: d.

Hmmmm. Yes. Sarcasm only works in banter between friends. True.

satire: trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly
...which at their core are psychological expressions of aggression arising from some perceived threat whether consciously recognized or not. So while I mean no disrespect, honjaku, truly, I admit that I've wondered about your reaction to those in this thread who do value the creative impulse and creative products, the special cultural role of art and artists regardless of skill level and irrespective of social validation, the general notion of art for art's sake, etc. Where's the threat? :wink:
