Is that a blessing in the end?-creekmary
There is no way for me to convey the experiences I’ve gone through to come to the conclusion of the dis-attachment of societal life. I have walked the “dark night of the soul” and realized that I can only positively react to the external situations that may come about.

I honestly can’t say that I would be grateful or not. That’s like asking me if I regret my Army experience. The answer is yes and no. If I hadn’t have gone through that experience opportunities would have been closed to me.

It’s impossible to tell what is around the next corner. All I can do is keep walking.

yep. "one foot in front of the other and pretty soon youre through it" as dad used to say. but it was more a question of general musing and not meant specifically. That is pretty much the way I have decided to try to loook at things. At the time the experience might be hard and seem pointless and make you wonder about all this "great plan" business because there doesnt seem to be any "plan" that doesnt involve a great big kick in the teeth. But "what if" (again) there seemed some benefit you cant have foreseen. Using a flat tire as a metaphore of life kind of example, but it leads you to the love of your life or opens the path to what turns out to be your life calling. just for an example.

Uncertainty appears to be a very funny thing. On the one hand, it can bring you to a state of utter despair, and on the other hand it keeps you moving to find out what’s behind the next door. Maybe I’m just talking about “luck”?
Luck or fortunity is good fortune which occurs beyond one's control, without regard to one's will, intention, or desired result. There are at least two senses people usually mean when they use the term, the prescriptive sense and the descriptive sense. In the prescriptive sense, luck is the supernatural and deterministic concept that there are forces (e.g. gods or spirits) which prescribe that certain events occur very much the way the laws of physics will prescribe that certain events occur. It is the prescriptive sense that people mean when they state that they "do not believe in luck". In the descriptive sense, luck is merely a name we give to events after they occur which we find to be fortuitous and perhaps improbable.

Cultural views of luck vary from perceiving luck as a matter of random chance to attributing to luck explanations of faith or superstition. For example, the Romans believed in the embodiment of luck as the goddess Fortuna,[1] while the philosopher Daniel Dennett believes that "luck is mere luck" rather than a property of a person or thing.[2]

I don't know about this "luck" business. We're surrounded by casinos out here and I see it (or not) almost every day. Gamblers probably notice it. Luck seems to just come and then just disappear. You can hit and have run after run after run and can do no wrong and then just suddenly it just stops. Bam! My boyfriend is "lucky", he wins and wins and wins! I'll be sitting right next to him and lose and lose and lose. It will be quiet and then all of a sudden bells and jackpots start going off all over the casino, luck starts hitting.

I don't know if that's the same kind of luck that comes from following a sudden impulse and resulting serendipity.

creekmary wrote:got another "what if" question :)

not to pick on you as an example, but kind of, kind of using me too :)

but what if
you decide you want to follow that call, and you ask God/bliss to help you heed that call and remove any hinderence. And you say..."I sure wish I could answer today! But that report is due friday..." And you lose the job that causes that hinderence. "I have to pay these bills!" And you lose that house and car and go bankrupt and have no bills. "I have to take care of my family!" So the spouse takes the kids and walks. Finally "I cant answer! I have to..........well....there is nothing left to wait on." And what hinders you is gone. Is that a blessing in the end? :)
That's not quite it creekmary.

The report... the car...the bills I could easily walk away from.

My wife wouldn't leave because I give the children an opportunity. It's the guilt of turning my back on my children that keeps me in my perpetual limbo. And she knows that.

Unfortunately, what hinders me will not be gone for a very long time. :?

Well, I was thinking kind of myself. The material things that made me worry about staying alive if I did start following "bliss" were all stripped away so that I was able to realize I would be ok. It gave me a lot of courage to walk what I THINK is my right path without worrying about making it and staying alive. That to me has been a blessing in the end. I don't worry about starving or car payments or a roof over my head. I will be ok if I am on that road. It was a horrible thing working through all that worry and fear, but I asked for it , the assurance and peace now that it's past...is hard to describe.
