The sunset of May 26th 2013 will be extra special. On that date, Venus, Jupiter and Mercury will gather in the fading twilight to form a bright triangle only three degrees wide.

reports NASA and adds
Triple conjunctions of planets are fairly rare. The last time it happened was in May 2011, and it won't happen again until October 2015. This triple is especially good because it involves the three brightest planets in May's night; Jupiter, Venus and Mercury. And the triangle will be visible even in places with heavy urban light pollution.

I just want to mention, Nermin, that when I saw your post, I made a note to remind myself to check this out on that Sunday. The note didn't catch my eye again until Monday... :(

Did you see it?

Cindy,

No problem if you missed that celestial event; there will be many others in coming months :-)

We had analog planispheres in the past but today there are very practical applications like Google Sky
for cellphones yet, it often takes a little time and maybe some experience to learn where to find this or that planet
at a particular period of the year. And certainly, it's much easier when you're in the provinces.

Let me then link here one of the best videos I found on Youtube for Jupiter, Venus and
Mercury triangle of 26th of May, 2013.

And another link for downloading Stellarium, a free open source planeterium
for your desktop.
http://www.stellarium.org/
A planeterium is handy to determine the cardinal points wherever you are and then
you can know where you can find a star or a planet quite accurately at anytime.

Cheers :-)

My pleasure, Cindy.

& by the way, I mean 'Google Sky Map for Android' when talking about Google Sky.
There's a big novelty here, the application enables users to identify stars and planets
by pointing their devices towards these objects in the sky.
Sky Map automatically adjusts to identify on the device's screen the objects it is facing
and it even works when you're offline! :-)
