New Platform Pending!

Post by Clemsy »

Greetings Associates!

I have an update for you regarding the website upgrade. While we still have no firm date for the move as of yet, I will share with you some of what was bounced around during a phone conference today.

At best, the forum, either in part or entire, may get migrated to the new site if it's feasible. Right now we don't know if it will be as the task is Herculean given the 76,670 posts in 3,800 topics we have right now. But this is plan A.

Plan B will be to maintain the current forum while the new website is constructed around it (ie: the store, downloads, Roundtables®, etc). In other words, the forum link on the new site will bring you here. When the new forum opens, this one will remain as a read-only archive to draw from and maintain existing conversations, especially given the rather active nature of the forums at the moment!

We realize that many of you have put your hearts and souls into many of your posts here and it is our intention to make sure that work is not lost. Ever. But the task is complex, given how old this site is.

I'll make sure to keep you informed as the project progresses!

Cheers,

I am sure that all the associates here will want the staff and all concerned to know how much we appreciate all the hard work that went into this. Your care and concern for this site is the reason it has survived and thrived and we are so grateful for your efforts.

Thank you for the site. Still embarrassed that I have not made any contributions but they are coming all together hopefully this year. :)

Plan B, plan B. I wouldn't risk messing up all the conversations. :P

Andreas, thank you for that comment. Plan B may, indeed, be better if the result of Plan A is jumbling up the threads as happened last time. I'll make sure to mention this to web wizards!

The avatar function on the new site works just fine! Tested it myself yesterday! :-)

Oh good...I'm beginning to forget what I looked like. Somehow there seems to be a "Barbi" involved.

Again, focusing on decorative and communicative minutiae--emoticons.

BOR-ing, our current skimpy selection. :P

A little tasteful creativity here, perhaps? Small size, of course, and static.

Thank you Clemsy,
I don't think that we need something perfect and that's not only because our posts
are that much valuable but it's true that the heroes of all walks of life and all around
the planet need a place to return to perennial philosophy transcending all cultural and
societal boundaries. With love

I believe the new forum will be similar to the Study of Myth forum HERE.. There will be more smiley options, Cindy, although I've come to prefer minimalist emoticons. :-p

I'd love to have a look, but I've yet to have a reply to my inability to access the new myth forum once joining, oh, months ago.

And I'm with you in general, Clemsy, on the smileys. Sometimes a simple color change, e.g., light blue, relieves the boredom and same old, same old we get across the web.

Thank you, Clemsy, I also plan to start a European forum about
mythology, analytical psychology and so on.
From Greece to Britain, we can also try our own way instead of posting to
North American forums ! :)
