Andreas,
I'm glad to hear that you made Chora Monastery.
That's one of the most mysterious places all over
Istanbul. Just think of those monks spending their
nights to paint Biblical scenes in a sequential manner
in a way more or less reminding of Joe Campbell's
monomyth.
So, when visiting the Chapel, you can literally walk
through all the stages of the spiritual quest according
to Byzantine mysticism -a tradition still having
many unknowns.

Hey Ercan, yes mysterious is a perfect word!!
Just think of those monks spending their
nights to paint Biblical scenes in a sequential manner
in a way more or less reminding of Joe Campbell's
monomyth.

through all the stages of the spiritual quest according
to Byzantine mysticism -a tradition still having
many unknowns.
I was overwhelmed by the place, it was so well preserved too that like you said literally you could walk through all the stages. But when you imagine all the chanting, rituals, the smell of incense and the candle lights reflecting on the golden mosaics... :)
Sometimes I desire to exist in isolation…then I realize I’d get bored without anyone to talk to.
Well sometimes I am together with friends and family and still feel isolated, other times I am alone and with the whole world so...

Andreas, it's so sad that we couldn't meet when you were in Istanbul :-(
The world is so small and so big at the same time :-)
