I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it
needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I've chosen this one, Andreas, because I always hated to hurt feelings.
Is-this what they call immature sensitivity?

I don't know, Ercan, if you think so. And if it is, I think we need more.

But... there is always a "but", and my friends tell me what is it with you and "but"...

I have dealt with quite a few heroes and anti-heroes. They are relative terms. What is challenging and mean might be very beneficial. :)

I’ve learned-
that it’s hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people’s feelings, and standing up for what you believe.
I struggle with this... damn hard to find the balance.

Wow, that line so fragile drawing out between Tibetan Buddhism
and European good sense and Eastern/Western skirmishes in most
general terms :(

If the statement were true, then it may be that our prisons, hospitals and morgues are filled with heroes.

I’ve learned-
that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it.
They've tolerated my day-dreams until I reached teenage. Then, they started to
talk about realism but this changed nothing :D

Hello everyone.

It has been the hottest few days on record here with temperatures reaching as high as 109 degrees at the start of the weekend. ( I'm sure many of us are concerned for Cindy who's power is out; and anyone else we may know who may be dealing with this issue. ) With this in mind I have been indoors whenever possible and have kept returning to this thread and the very thoughtful post Andreas quoted of " Omar Washington " which although may not be classified or thought of as poetry; certainly captures it's uplifting spirit.

In my contemplative mood I was prompted to a journey all the way back to this thread's beginning and I found myself captivated by the spell of it's participants personal expressions.

I would just like to say how much I was moved by post after post of what I consider; ( at least to me ); to be reflective of what these forums represent. It reminds me that this is why I come here and who I want to be with. I know that many of us grope and struggle with things that may be pretty overwhelming or confusing or challenging in the process of life's navigation. And maybe the stage of where my thoughts seem to turn these days provides some little window or view that opens to get a glimpse of something special to me not offered in my day to day normal experience.

But if I may offer something that sums up for me as an example of this sentiment and the spirit of this place; I will hyjack a quote from the first page that moderator Martin Weyers used concerning a Micheal Toms and Joseph Campbell interview where Martin says: " Campbell is talking here about a typical mythological and also psychological story about missing the song of life sung by a bird in the forest. Once we have listened to that song we have to sing it ourselves; " If you bring forth what is in you, you will sing "

To me that bird lives here! And to me that song is being played by all of you!
( And by the way the song is not the words but the intent behind the words. And the beauty of it's melody shines throughout this website. )

Thank you all for everything you bring! :)

Cheers; and hoping you have a cooool rest of the weekend! 8)

I had a cool rest on weekend and started my Monday with a cup of really strong coffee
and an extraordinary poem/song; I know why the caged bird sings by Maya Angelou/Abbey Lincoln. Thank you all

Exquisite and elegant in style. Sensitve; and cheerfully executed in display. Like a ray of sunshine in the morning to inform your spirits of the day's possibility. What a beautiful piece Nermin!
