Thought you folks might find this interesting. This new facility (opened last september) is directed by the leader of the fruit fly genome project and is designed to carry out massive experiments involving massive computations and data storage. This facility is designed to address the root of human consciousness by deconstructing the way that neural networks encode and process information to create perception, awareness, memory, consciousness, and behavior.

They have a powerhouse of prestigious researchers and a massive financial support from the second largest philanthropic entity in the US (next to the bill/melinda gates foundation).

To me, this is the ivory tower of science where the TRUE priesthood of mankind (i.e. the PhDs) are meditating on questions using powerful tools do discern what we are. They are generating our perspective of who we are and are connecting us to the mystery of existence.
